A huge thank-you for the wonderful three-day visit from our volunteer vets for a very productive spay/neuter program. A huge thank-you to the Marchig Fund for Animals based in Switzerland for sponsoring this session. We are so grateful to all of you. At this session, 87 cats were spayed/neutered; 13 cats had dental care; 1 cat was treated for ear cancer; 1 female dog was spayed. All they got antiparasite treatment.
Our fall 2016 Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR) session for Hydra’s street cats will be held over the weekend of November 11-13. Vets will begin work in the late morning on that Friday until 4:30 pm. They will work all day Saturday (9 am to 4:30 pm) and from 9 am until noon on Sunday. If you would like to bring a stray cat for neutering or for further information, please contact HydraArk by email at hydraark@yahoo.com. Volunteers are heartily welcome! If you would like to bring a personal house pet, please understand that we will ask for a small donation to cover the cost of the necessary medications.
Since 2008, every year , in collaboration with the Hydra Municipality and the Animal Action/GAWF, we bring a vet, ferrier and an equines dentist to offer free veterinary medicine, dentistry, and ferrier care for donkeys, mules, and working horses in our island. On 17-18-19 & 20 of October the team of Animal Action/GAWF together with Hydra Ark’s volunteers are going to offer veterinary treatment to Hydra’s equines.
